MESSAGE from the CHAPTER
Summer 2007
Greetings to each of you from the members of your 2007
Executive Committee.
Our
meetings comprise light snacks, a short business section and a guest speaker
presentation to 50-90 attendees. These meetings are relaxed, thoroughly
enjoyable and provide great networking opportunities!
Several
of our executives are participating in staging the 2008
Engineering Innovations Forum
scheduled for
March 6, 2008,
6 pm to 10 pm, at the Ontario Science Centre. This event is
part of the annual
‘Engineering Week’ activities. The topic for the
2008 Forum is “Emerging Engineering Innovations in Health Care”.
Among
the more rewarding Chapter events for the Executive are the two semi-annual
Engineering License Presentation Ceremonies held at the Islington Golf Club
wherein new P. Eng.’s are given the opportunity to include their friends and
families as they are formally recognized and welcomed by P.E.O. These new
Engineers represent the future of Canadian technology.
We also
have subcommittee members involved in areas such as Education Outreach,
Engineering Leadership, Government Liaison Program (GLP) and maintenance of
the chapter website.
There
are typically as many as two dozen participants in our Executive so each
member need only contribute a few hours to reap the rewards of involvement
in your local Chapter of Professional Engineers Ontario. Chapter activities
are by definition geographically local. I encourage you to get involved with
your Chapter affairs; it’s a great opportunity for networking, it’s good
experience and does not require a lot of time.
We urge
you to come out and involve yourself in your local Chapter’s activities as
either an Executive Committee member or a volunteer.
